Philosophy
Philosophy: Less is more
The less we use on our skin, the more it can do what it does naturally.
The more we use clean, simple ingredients, the more we align with nature.
Our goal is for you to look at our products and recognize the ingredients in them. Your skin is an organ too! In fact....it's your largest organ, so we believe it should be treated like the rest of your body and fed with nourishing, plant and food based ingredients.
Why Handmade?
We believe there is a certain energy that goes in to things that are made my hand. Machines use energy, which we would rather conserve. Machines are also often contaminated from repetitive use, which requires cleaning with chemicals, so you may be getting things in your products that aren't listed in the ingredients.
We are also BIG fans of The Artisan Revival Movement, which causes us to slow down and appreciate HOW things are made. By suppporting handmade, small batch companies, we eliminate mass production of goods, in turn suppporting goods made in the US and the distance from production to when you use them is much shorter, so you ge
Why Small Batch Skincare?
We like our food to be fresh and chances are we wouldn't eat a loaf of bread that's been sitting in a cupboard for months. The same goes for our beauty products, that's why we hand make all our products in small batches. Mass production leads to excessiveness and overuse of valuable resources. Let's get back to our ROOTS and start being more sustainable and ethical in how we produce things....what do you say?
Why Glass?
Glass doesn't off gas and isn't loaded with harsh chemicals found in plast(icks)...even recyled plast(ick). Glass is VERY recyclable and wont' leak chemicals in to your products like plastic will. The amount of damaging chemicals in plast(ick) can actually cause more damage to your skin by using a product that has been contaminated, so it's just all around better for everyone, including the Earth.
Why Biodegradable Labels?
While it's nice to have some things stick around for along time, it's not so great for the things we throw away. In this modern world we live in our landfills are becoming landFULLS. We only have one Earth, so when we run out of space for all our trash where will it go? That's why we choose to use Biodegradable labels. Like our ingredients, they come from the Earth and go right back there when you are done using them.
Why Local + Ethical + Sustainable Ingredients?
Some things travel miles to get to you. This puts a damper on freshness. It also causes a disconnect between you and your community. It feels good to go to the farmers market and connect with people creating good things, this way you can ask questions and become educated on the things you buy. It aslo takes alot of energy to ship things across an ocean and weakens the local economy. Take a peak around your community and see what's being made...you might be surprised! It also takes alot of energy and resources like land to produce things, so we make sure we source very ethically and develop relationships with our suppliers. Even more importantly, we grow many of our herbs + keep honey bees, so we know JUST how things are done. All waste is composted and used to grow more herbs. Nothing toxic is ever used, just LoVe.
